When choosing art and frames for your picture wall, it is important that you have a goal for what look you would like. Would you like a natural and calm expression? Or are you a fan of stronger colors and contrasts?
For me, it is important that there is a balanced and calm feeling on my walls.
I start designing my art walls by laying the frames on the floor, and then placing the art prints, drawings and originals on top of them. This is a quick way to create the right look and balance.
I like to mix the types of frames, but I prefer them with a narrow profile. I try to match the frame colour so it suits the art work in the best possible way. The right choice of frames makes the big difference . It adds a lot to the art and puts it into the right perspective.
It creates a nice and dynamic effect to mix frame colors and qualities. Mix oak with black aluminum and a narrow gold profile, and experience how beautiful an effect it can have.
I love using passepartouts on my gallery walls and I offer them in for size A5, A4 and A3 cards and art prints.
Mix your newly purchased cards, prints and posters with different art styles. Mix them up with personal things and little treasures to create a personaland unique look.
Below you can find some examples of art prints that fit well together:
• Golden Abstract combined with Embracing Female, Reflection and Bug.
• One Line Female, Ethnic, Golden Abstract and One Line Silhouette.
• Scribbles, Sitting Silhouette, A for Abstract and One Line Female.
Get creative and mix the sizes, and possibly vary with a frame with passepartout in size 40x50 cm.
(Please note that the art poster for this frame must be in size A3.)
If you are looking for a calmer look, I recommend combining 2-4 art posters in the large sizes. Eg. 3 x 100x70 cm above your sofa, or a large 100x140 cm where there is room for it. 2-4 framed art posters in 50x70 in cm also give a nice and balanced look.
Examples of large art posters that fit well together could be the following:
• A for Abstract, Embracing Silhouette and Blue lady.
• One Line Silhouette and Sitting Silhouette
• Reflection and One Line Female
Remember that you do not need huge wall surfaces to hang the large pictures. Often it creates calm and balance when using large art prints or a big wall hanging, rather than many small ones. - Even if you do not have a huge living room or big walls to work on. If you use Instagram, I recommend looking at Hello_Haus, who is brilliant at creating a simple and natural interior with large images in smaller spaces.
